Limited Mode

When the AI can only create support tickets: what switches it on, what still works, and how to get back to full service.

Step 1: Triggers

  • Shopify stores — your monthly spending cap is reached. That happens as soon as what is left of the cap is less than the price of one more conversation, so it can start just below 100 %. It also happens when your 50 free conversations are used up and no billing subscription has been approved.
  • Stores billed by card (WooCommerce, Centra, MyStore and stores without a shop) — your 50 free conversations are used up and no card has been added, or card payments failed until the subscription ended.

A widget you paused yourself is not in limited mode: it is simply not shown.

Step 2: Possible in limited mode

  • Create a ticket. In chat and social messages it asks for the customer's email address first. At most 5 such tickets a day per store; after that the customer is asked to try again tomorrow or contact you directly.
  • Nothing that needs a lookup. No orders, products, knowledge base, returns or return labels.
  • Email is not answered by the AI at all: each email becomes a ticket, or is added to its thread's ticket, and the customer gets an automatic reply with the ticket number. No daily limit.
  • Phone calls go to voicemail.

It runs on a lighter, faster model, so replies are still quick.

Step 3: Leaving limited mode

  • Shopify: raise the cap. In the Supportify app in Shopify admin, open Settings → Billing, click Change next to Monthly Cap, pick the new amount, click Update Cap and approve it in Shopify. Or wait for your next Shopify billing period, when the cap starts over.
  • Stores billed by card: add a card. Click Add a card on the banner in the dashboard, or Add Payment Method on Billing, and finish the checkout.

Full service comes back by itself within a minute. New conversations start in full, and a conversation in limited mode goes back to full at the customer's next message, which is then charged as usual.

Warnings

The banner shows until full service is back. You also get the AI is in limited mode notification, at most once a day, by email and on any other notification channel you have set up. On Shopify you are warned before it happens, at 90 % and 95 % of your cap. See Billing & Usage.
